I remember on Draft Day my one goal was to get Pedro Alvarez for third base. My only goal.
But then when Will Middlebrooks went up for auction, I noticed that CBSSports had him rated as BETTER than Pedro Alvarez. So I figured I'd bid on him with a fallback plan of getting Pedro.
I ended up with Middlebrooks for $9 and later the aptly named Frickin' As grabbed Alvarez for just a buck.
It has come back to haunt me - Pedro has a vendetta against the Flemingos.
Today his line is: 3 for4, 0.750 BA, 2B, HR, 5 RBI, R

Nice Pitching!
Nice pitching day for the Big Pink Machine:
21 INN, 17 HA, 3 BBI, 21 K, 2 ER, 0.857 ERA, 0.952 WHIP, 3 W
Probably the best we've had in a couple years. In order of expectation for this sort of pitching performance it was Shelby Miller, Jose Fernandez and Wily Peralta(!).

Despite trailing yesterday, we managed to move ahead of the Fungoes on Sunday for a convincing 9-1 victory. It was nice to grab victory from the jaws of defeat for a change...

Losing...
12:38 on Saturday afternoon, and the Big Pink Machine (thanks mostly to an 0-10 day at the plate so far) are now tied with the Fungoes and the Fungoes have the batting average tiebreaker in their favor...
Oh yeah, that third baseman of ours that was day-to-day with back spasms? He's now on the 15 day disabled list with no one really worth picking up to replace him...

We're Ahead!
We're ahead of the Fungoes going into Friday's games. But it's interesting to note that our third baseman is day-to-day with back spasms and 4 other players have the dreaded blue sheet next to their names on the Flemingo roster. The blue sheet denotes "cold player"...

The hitters are pretty straight forward. The pitchers, maybe not so much. I wouldn't mind having Cingrani as a pitcher (probably replacing Hellickson from that list) and we'll see if Wheeler and Cole actually get called up. Wheeler looks pretty sure - Cole, not so much.
